Industry Intelligence: investing in the future

Galway-based Caragh Precision specialises in the design and manufacture of precision machined metal and plastic components. To emphasise the great focus the company places on research and development services, it has opened an Innovation Centre dedicated to working with medical device companies from concept design right through to product introduction and manufacturing.

The centre is the latest in a series of continuous investments by the company at its purpose-built 40,000-sq-ft facility in Parkmore Business Park, Galway, Ireland, one of the leading medical device hubs in Europe.

Speaking about the launch, Innovation and Commercial Director, Richard Gribbons, said, “We have always seen the value in working with companies from an early stage, seeking to bring new products to market as efficiently as possible… Our aim is to provide a turnkey solution to medical device companies, working with them as an outsourced partner from product and equipment design to prototyping and volume manufacturing.”

The company’s design and engineering expertise includes the development of a suite of subcutaneous titanium ports for a medical device company and novel orthopaedic devices for a leading orthopaedic surgeon. Its application experience also includes vascular procedures, oncology and surgical devices.
