A sensor technology platform that enables wireless monitoring of vital signs, and compliance and quality management software designed for the life sciences industry were honoured this year by Frost & Sullivan. Kai Sensors (Honolulu, HI, USA) received the North American Technology Innovation of the Year Award for Wireless Vital Signs Monitoring, while Pilgrim Software (Tampa, FL, USA) took home the title of North American Enterprise Compliance & Quality Management Company of the Year.
Kai Sensors’ technology allows wireless detection and monitoring of a patient’s vital signs including heart and respiration rates. The device is “capable of monitoring multiple physiological parameters simultaneously and accurately with zero contact,” notes Frost & Sullivan research analyst Vanitha S. V.
A spinoff company of the Doppler radar technology that was developed at the University of Hawaii, Kai Sensors is currently seeking US FDA approval and, following that, partnerships to market the technology.
On the software front, Pilgrim Software was cited the second year in a row for its compliance and quality management products and leadership in the medical devices sector. Frost & Sullivan also saluted the company’s vertical expansion into the life sciences and other regulated industries. The company was judged based on a set of criteria that includes market growth potential and the ability to deliver value-enhancing solutions to customers.
