Coated extrusion wire

61091.tifMedical-grade Teflon-coated extrusion wire and forming mandrels are available for manufacturing cardiovascular catheters, balloons and related devices. The coated wire is fabricated using an etching process that prevents flaking and allows elongation of more than 25%. Supplied spooled or cut to length, the 0.0254- to 1.778-mm-diam wire features a 0.05 coefficient of friction. The wire’s antistick surface simplifies removal of the mandrel from the catheter.

Antimicrobial coating

64164.tifThe ComfortCoat haemocompatible lubricious coating can be used to reduce the risk of intravascular bloodstream infections and problems with blood clotting. The above image demonstrates the ability of a catheter coated with ComfortCoat to resist blood-clot formation. The lower image depicts an uncoated catheter with blood clots on its surface. The coating also offers high lubricity and durability to lower stiction and friction, thereby reducing tissue damage.
