Low-Insertion-Force Connectors Feature Staggered Dual-Contact Arrangement

AVX GmbH has developed a range of 0.5-mm-pitch low-insertion-force FFC/FPC connectors for price-sensitive applications. The Series 6284 connectors’ staggered dual-contact arrangement enables the low insertion force feature. “The simplicity of mating of the connectors suits medical applications and industrial test and measurement equipment,” says Andy Kotas, Marketing Manager for AVX/Kyocera Elco Connectors.

The design of the connectors ensures mating security. Despite the connectors’ low insertion force—it reportedly requires nearly 25% less force than competing connectors—the separation force is approximately double that of other designs.
