A miniature linear motion (LM) guide is available for the first time with caged technology. Developed by THK GmbH (Ratingen, Germany;, the design cradles each ball, separating it from the next one.

Spaces between the rolling elements retain grease and act as a lubrication system. This results in long-term maintenance-free performance of the LM guides. Because caged technology produces few particles, the SRS5M/WM device is suited for use in medical and other precision equipment applications.

The ultracompact LM guide features minimal rolling resistance and four-way equal-load ratings. Heights range from 6 to 6.5 mm; block widths are from 12 to 17 mm; and block lengths range from 14.2 to 19.4 mm (16.9 to 22.1 mm with end seal).

The SRS5M/WM is dimensionally interchangeable with the company’s RSR5 LM guide.
