A biennial event that showcases Ireland’s innovative med-tech industry to a select group of international experts returns to Dublin in October. Med-in-Ireland will be hosted by Irish state development agency Enterprise Ireland on 20 October at the Croke Park Conference Centre. The one-day medical technologies conference and partnering event is expected to attract some 200 visitors from around the world and approximately 35 exhibitors representing everything from medical device manufacturing and subcontracting to precision engineering, diagnostics and healthcare IT. Also attending will be healthcare providers, clinicians and R&D professionals from the university system.
Participation in the event is by invitation only. In addition to providing companies with a platform to showcase their innovative products, med-in-Ireland serves as a forum where participants can engage in a high-level debate and discussion about cutting-edge technologies that are on the cusp of commercialisation. Christopher Coburn, Executive Director of the Cleveland Clinic, will be one of the key speakers at a panel discussion on how clinical know-how and engineering excellence can evolve to form a dynamic medical technologies company.
Enterprise Ireland facilitates meetings between international guests and Irish companies at the show and organises plant visits before and after the event to give attendees an opportunity to witness innovation first hand. Flight and accommodation expenses for the event are covered by Enterprise Ireland for selected guests.
Sustained investment in Ireland’s med-tech sector has stimulated the emergence of an indigenous cluster of more than 100 innovation-led companies along the entire med-tech value chain. Eight of the world’s 10 largest medical device companies have a presence in Ireland, which has earned a reputation as an international centre of excellence for medical device development and manufacturing.
