Cook Medical Names Nicky James Vice President and Global Leader of Urology Strategic Business Unit
Nicky James, who has held a variety of positions within Cook Medical, has been named Vice President and Global Leader of the company’s Urology Business Unit. She succeeds Jerry French, a Senior Executive with more than 20 years of leadership at Cook who is assuming other senior management duties within the company. James came to Cook in 2000 and became North American Sales Manager for urology in 2007. She was selected as acting global business unit leader in 2009 when French was chosen to head a business launch team in Europe for Cook’s new drug-eluting Zilver PTX peripheral stent.
Educated as a registered general nurse at Royal London Hospital in London, James also has served as Global Product Manager for endourology, Regional Manager for North Europe and in other sales and sales management positions for Cook’s urology division.
Blackwood Appointed as Chief Executive at Health Enterprise East

Dr Anne Blackwood has been appointed Chief Executive at Health Enterprise East (HEE), the region’s NHS innovation hub based at Papworth Hospital. Blackwood takes over the role from Dr Peter Blenkinsop, who has been promoted to Deputy Chairman. She joined HEE when it was first established in 2005 as Innovation Manager before being promoted to Head of Innovation and in February 2009, Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to HEE, her previous roles include working at Cambridge Enterprise, focusing on the commercialisation of technologies from the biological and chemical sciences and before that, carrying out research at the University of Westminster and South Bank University, London. Blackwood holds a degree in Chemistry and a PhD in biotechnology from Strathclyde University.
Gerd Löbbert Joins Borealis Executive Board

Borealis, a provider of chemical and innovative plastics solutions has announced the appointment of Gerd Löbbert as Executive Vice President for Base Chemicals. Löbbert, a native German, studied Chemistry and Physics at the University of Bochum, Germany and graduated with a Ph.D. in 1986. Since 1986, he’s worked in various functions and divisions (production, R&D and marketing) at BASF, specifically in the area of pigments, polymers, additives and printing inks in Germany; as Marketing Director Inks and Pigments in the United States; Vice President, Global Business Unit Printing Inks and Dispersions in Stuttgart, Germany; and Group Vice President Performance Chemicals for Coatings, Plastics and Specialities. Löbbert has held the position of Group Vice President, Cracker Products and Industrial Gases Europe since 2005 and in 2009 he took over responsibility for restructuring the worldwide pigment activities.
Carl Zeiss Meditec Appoints New CFO
Dr Christian Müller has been appointed a new member of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG. Müller, who holds a PhD in Business Administration, began his career with the Carl Zeiss Group in 2002 in the area of auditing and risk management. Before joining Zeiss, he held a number of managerial positions within the controlling departments of two large international corporations. From 2006 until today, Müller has been responsible for the surgical Ophthalmology Strategic Business Unit (SBU). During this time, he has actively and successfully driven forward the expansion of the SBU and realised the integration of Acri.Tec.
In his new role as a member of the Management Board and CFO of Carl Zeiss Meditec, Müller will be responsible for the areas of finance, investor relations and IT. He continues, within the Management Board, to oversee the activities of the Surgical Ophthalmology SBU.
