Smithers Rapra Appoints Manufacturing Leader

Smithers Rapra has announced the appointment of Steve Peel as Manufacturing Leader. Peel will support the technical processing team and specialised manufacturing services at the Shawbury site. His input will enhance Smithers Rapra’s capabilities from pre-production trials, failure analysis, through to speciality compounding and formulation development.

Peel comes from Petlon Polymers, a recycling company in the thermoplastics industry. His role with them included growing the engineering thermoplastics business, including setting up new products.

Previous to this, he was employed with Chempolymer, formally BIP Thermoplastics Division, where he worked in both technical and quality departments before moving to production. As a shift manager, his role was to manage up to nine production lines.

Beta LaserMike Names Jay Luis as Marketing Manager Worldwide

Beta LaserMike, provider of precision measurement and control solutions, announced the appointment of Jay Luis as Marketing Manager, worldwide. In this role, Luis will be responsible for developing and implementing the marketing strategies to drive demand generation, revenue growth and brand development across the US, Europe and Asia markets.

Most recently, Luis served as Vice President of Marketing at Seapine Software, a provider of application lifecycle management solutions, where he led a global marketing organisation. Previously, he held the Director of Marketing Communications position at Barco where he helped the organisation establish its leadership position in the simulation marketplace. Prior to this, Luis served as partner and Vice President at OIA Marketing Communications in Dayton, OH.

Luis has an Associate of Science degree in electronic engineering from Sinclair College, Bachelor of Science degree in physical science from Capital University and has attended the University of Dayton, School of Law for Juris Doctor.
