The possibility that someone could hack into an implantable electronic device and cause mischief or worse has prompted two US legislators to swing into action. Democratic members of the House of Representatives from California and Massachusetts have asked the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to investigate what the Federal Communications Commission is doing to protect wireless-enabled medical devices from being hacked, writes MD+DI Managing Editor Brian Buntz on the DeviceTalk blog.

This follows on the heels of a recent stunt pulled by computer security specialist Jay Radcliffe. He successfully hacked into his insulin pump onstage as part of a presentation at the Black Hat security conference.
