MEDTEC Europe has established itself as the largest trade show devoted to medical device manufacturing in Europe. Growing steadily since the event was launched in 1997, the show is now the second largest event of its kind in the world behind the US trade fair MD&M West, which is also organised by UBM Canon. This year, MEDTEC Europe is expected to attract more than 1000 exhibitors. By contrast, in 2009, the event attracted 633 exhibitors.
Scheduled for 22-24 March, the trade show will once again be held at the Stuttgart Landesmesse. Occupying approximately 36,000 square metres this year, the trade show and conference will fill halls 2, 4, 6 and 8 of the venue.
An accompanying innovation forum is now a traditional part of the event. Throughout the entire three days of the trade show, lectures are given on recent developments in medical device manufacturing and technology. The main topics for the forum in 2011 include orthopaedics, dental technology and cardiology.
MEDTEC Europe once again will be co-located with the SüdTec subcontracting exposition, the rapid-product development show RapidWorld and 3C Europe, which is dedicated to cleanroom products and contamination control. This year, the event planner has added another event to the roster: DesignMed Europe, which is dedicated to the development of electronic medical devices. DesignMed Europe will feature an exhibition of international suppliers offering electronics technologies for the medical equipment sector, as well as a technical conference addressing issues ranging from regulatory and R&D considerations to manufacturing process technology.
