MEDTEC Europe Preview: Infrared Thermometers with Miniaturised Sensing Heads Fit into Small Spaces

The performance of a line of infrared thermometers has been enhanced through the introduction by Optris GmbH of an infrared sensor that is smaller, more precise and faster than competing technologies. The CTfast LT, CSmicro LT and CSmicro 2W thermometers have noncontact measurement ranges of –50° and 975°C and are suited for use in such plastics-processing applications as the deep-drawing and thermoforming of foils, the laminating and drying of surfaces and the welding of plastic parts. They offer optical resolutions of 25:1, 15:1 and 15:1, respectively. Response times are 6 milliseconds with the 25:1 resolution and 30 milliseconds with a resolution of 15:1. The thermometers have miniaturised yet robust sensing heads that can fit into small and cramped spaces within equipment. They operate in environments as hot as 120°C without requiring cooling.
