Tabletop dispensing robots in platforms ranging from 200 × 200 to 500 × 500 mm are available for manufacturing processes that involve the application of assembly fluids such as adhesives, lubricants and silicones. According to Nordson EFD, the compact, versatile robots can apply virtually any assembly fluid with greater accuracy and consistency than manual applicators, and achieve more precise placement than operator-controlled pneumatic dispensers. The robots can be programmed to automatically position the dispensing tip so that fluid is applied in the same place on every part, every time. The company’s new dispensing robots combine a precision fluid dispensing system (typically syringe- or valve-based) with an electronically controlled positioning platform. Also on the stand will be the new 754V-SS valve, a precision dispense valve with an aseptic design that reduces the risk of contamination in sterile fluid filling processes. Typical uses include filling contact lens packages with saline and filling vials with drugs.
