Germany-based sortimat Technology GmbH and Co. designs systems for complex automated assembly processes. The company’s specialty is tailoring standard platforms and feeder systems to satisfy specific customer needs. The machines can be seamlessly integrated into existing production systems and can be configured for cleanroom operation. The company routinely designs and builds everything from semi-automatic stand-alone units to fully automated end-to-end systems. Among the company’s newest additions to its line of products are the the Jetwing 2010 assembly system 50 × 100 and 400 × 100 mm nest sizes. Previously, only 100 × 100 and 200 × 100 mm nest sizes were available. The system’s modular design allows from eight to 48 assembly stations. The Jetwing can be converted to the company’s Spaceline system when production volumes increase. Sortimat became part of ATS Automation, which is headquartered in Cambridge, ON, Canada, in June 2010.
