Based on permanent-magnet stepper motor technology, a so-called self-closing linear actuator offers an integrated return to zero. The axis and plastic body were specifically designed to obtain a mechanical stop, according to Sonceboz SA (Sonceboz, Switzerland). When the power supply fails, the axis always returns to a preset position. This return to zero helps secure the final application. The linear actuator is designed to withstand harsh environments and complex demands. It weighs 70 g, features 10-mm maximum travel length and 20 N torque, and attains speeds of 30 mm/sec.
