| The SB-20C is one of three new multi-axis mill-turning centres being launched this year by Star Micronics. |
Star Micronics has announced the introduction of three multi-axis mill-turning centres. One of the machines, the SG-42 fixed-headstock bar automatic system, is intended for the manufacture of complex components up to 42 mm diameter. The six-axis machine is driven by an 11-kW primary spindle motor. It features a C axis on both the main and counter spindles. The 5 kW power of the driven tool motor enables heavy duty milling and drilling operations to be carried out at either spindle.
Designated SB-20C, a new sliding-headstock lathe from the company is a 20-mm bar machine that replaces the company's SB-16E unit. The machine is described by the manufacturer as an early-entry machine capable of manufacturing components of medium complexity.
Capable of manufacturing complex medical components, the SF-25 is a compact, 25-mm capacity sliding-head turning centre. The machine is equipped with a 10-station turret and an additional tool spindle and a 24-station automatic tool changer. The tool spindle is capable of accepting Capto C3 tooling and is driven by a 5.5 kW / 20,000 rpm motor, facilitating reduced cycle times when producing complex mill-turned components.
