A syringe pump has been designed to deliver a full volume in both infuse and withdraw modes. The Legato 270 features a reconfigurable mechanism that can accommodate syringes as small as 0.5 l and as large as 140 ml. Two removable pins adjust the syringe mechanism. When used with check valves, the unit draws fluid from a reservoir while the opposite side dispenses fluid. After the user-selected volume is dispensed, the pump automatically switches through the check valves and refills the empty syringes while dispensing from the other side. The unit continuously dispenses as long as there is fluid in the reservoir.
