The Series PS-100 Macrovideo Polarimeter System from Strainoptics enables fast and easy inspection of strain patterns in clear and translucent plastic products. The system consists of a high-precision, laboratory-quality polarimeter equipped with a colour CCD video camera with 10:1 zoom magnification and a high-resolution 19 in. colour LCD monitor. Using the techniques of photoelasticity, the instrument accurately measures birefringence and detects unacceptable gradients of stress or strain in transparent or translucent plastics. Applications include medical-grade tubing, implantables, pharmaceutical and cosmetic packaging, and optical lenses, as well as prosthetics and other biomedical devices.

The PS-100 Macrovideo Polarimeter system is fully compatible with ASTM Standard Test Method D4093. The system is also available without the video camera and monitor, as well as in custom configurations to meet special requirements.
